This is What my Heart Looks Like:

Endless, endless rain in DC. If only it was as much fun as for these kids…

Shake, Rattle and Roll

I survived the earthquake today – hopefully you did, too! It was quite the strange experience, especially since I was in an art gallery at the time. My first thought, once I figured out what was going on, was for the safety of the paintings. It wasn’t intense enough to make me feel like the earth was going to swallow me up, but it sure was unsettling!

The dwindling days of summer…there’s nothing quite the same as summer when you’re a kid, is there?

Even the sun needs a little help in the morning, although he’s doing a pretty good job of getting himself up lately.

Already missing the relaxing waters of Hilton Head…

Stuff I Want Wednesday

Killing two birds with one stone today, by using up a long-overdue Plinky prompt: Create a super-pet by combining any three animals.

An elephant.

A hedgehog.

And a parrot.

What do you get?

An elehedgerot. A tiny elephant with colorful spines and wings, that can talk, fly, and curl up into a ball. Weird and geeky, no?

One thing I love, but don’t do as often as I’d like, is have outdoor adventures. Whether camping, rafting, or roasting s’mores over a fire, I love doing things outside. You’d think that, living in the middle of all these mountains and rivers, that I’d spend much more of my time doing those things. Not so. It might have something to do with the fact that I can’t be outside in the sun for more than 5 minutes without looking like a cooked lobster.

Perhaps if I had this awesome kayak, I would spend more time out of doors. You have to admit – you don’t get a much more scenic view than that!
