Housesitting

8 Mar

As if my life wasn’t hectic enough already, I’m housesitting this week. I just got back from the beach, have my interview in DC coming up this weekend, and now I’m spending those few days in between at my cousin’s house, taking care of their dogs. And still working, of course.

The thing I like about housesitting is that it gives you a taste of what it’s like to live on your own, with your own life and your independence, without the worry about bills and other such things. It’s nice to have my own space for a while.

My brother is in town for his spring break, so I do feel a little bad about not being home to spend time with him while he’s here. But I didn’t know when he’d be here when I agreed to housesit, so I can’t really help that these are overlapping. I think we’re going to have lunch together sometime this week. We asked him if he wanted to go to DC with us. Not that there will be much for him to do there, but we thought it would be nice to offer him anyway.

My life is so crazy right now. I’m living out of suitcase and I feel like I’m out of town, even though I’m still in town. I’m in and out all the time, have to come home in the middle of the day to let the dogs out – it’s just crazy! I have several outreaches and meetings this week, which makes for long days. I’m running around like crazy! I feel like I don’t have time to rest much. It’s fun, but tiring. I’m looking forward to DC, but I kind of want my life to get back to normal for a while. While I’ve been doing all this, the calorie counting has gone out the window. I have been so terrible this week, and of course haven’t made it to the gym much – working all the time and being out of town a lot don’t really make for a great exercise schedule. But as soon as things die down a bit, I’ll get right back on track.

Until then, it’s just a whirlwind!
