Today was a very, very good day. I got up early this morning and went shopping, to find some artsy clothes to make up for the ones I didn’t bring with me to Murfreesboro. I found some really great stuff. Five shirts, two dresses, a pair of shoes, a killer necklace, a cute novelty contact case, the Dark Knight (for $10!), headbands, and a free bag from TJ Maxx. Not a bad day.

For dinner, we went out for sushi with some of the visual art kids and some of the teachers. It was parent’s day today, and we took the kids out who didn’t have parents coming or who couldn’t stay for dinner. It was a great time. I’ve been craving sushi recently, and it was so nice to get off campus and socialize in a non-academic setting with those people. I really love the company of artists. Always refreshing. I could do this for the rest of my life! We have such a great group of students this year, and it’s really beginning to feel like a family. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I have to leave. I love the staff, I love the faculty, I love the kids. Governor’s School is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

While I was out shopping today, I found a new favorite quote. It’s something I mostly fail to do, but really want to try and incorporate into my life:

“Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again. ” -Og Mandino
