Hickory Dickory Dock

30 Apr

Still extremely busy, but having a fun night tonight! My summer ’08 roommates are all getting together for dinner tonight at Hickory Tavern! I’m excited…good food and good drinks!

I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to convince my professors that I have high enough grades that I shouldn’t have to take their exams or finish final projects. No such luck in that department, though. I actually only have one final exam to take, in Non-Western Art, which shouldn’t be that bad. It’s just the simple fact of having to study for it, and take the time out to take the test. There are so many things to get done in the next 16 days! It’s so unbelievably weird to say that. 16 days. But April is over now, and it’s almost time to say goodbye.

I’m really excited about all the things going on in my life right now. True, I don’t have time to sit around and have fun with my friends or watch a movie or really just exist. It’s so chaotic right now, but sometimes I think I thrive on that. There’s always got to be something going on.

My parents are coming tomorrow to bring me all my work for my show and move my brother out of USC. They are making at least three trips down here in the next two weeks. What can I say. We’re expensive kids.

One Down…

29 Apr

I finished my paper last night and turned it into Zan today! It feels so good to have this done, although the load hasn’t lifted quite as much as you would expect. I have a meeting with her about it tomorrow. I hope she likes it; somehow I get the little feeling in the back of my mind that there could have been a little something extra added to it. Although, I think I did pretty good work. But as an honors thesis, I hope it makes the grade! While certainly a major accomplishment, there’s still so much left to do before they’ll let me leave. The show is in less than a week, and then my paper presentation is right after that! Not to mention all the piles of reading, drawing, and other work that must be done before May 16. It never ends. One thing gets crossed off my list and then I have to move on to the next. Right now I almost want to take a long break and do nothing, now that I know I have such a big accomplishment out of the way. No such luck, though.

Ten Things Tuesday – April 28

28 Apr

Ten things I always carry with me:

1. My camera. Useful for documenting my life and taking the Project 365 challenge.

2. My access card. Without this, I wouldn’t be able to get into my dorm or get food in the dining hall. Both are very important to have the ability to do. Considering that I always carry my card in my keys, this also means that I always have my keys with me.

3. Burt’s Bees chapstick. By far the best. I love the way it tingles.

4. Post-its and a pen. Never know when sudden inspiration is going to hit, or when you’re going to have to make an inpromptu to-do list. Or when you’re going to have to write down song lyrics to find out later what song you just heard on the radio.

5. My planner. Without it, I would get nothing done. I wouldn’t know where to be or when to be there. Basically, my life would fall apart.

6. My stone with the collaged tree I made at an art show.

7. My jump drive. I don’t always need it, but you never know when you’re going to need some extra memory to plug into a computer.

8. My iPod. I need music with me all the time, as like a theme song or background music.

9. My phone. Keeps me connected to my family and friends. Also has a Sudoku game that I can play when I get bored.

10. Whatever book I’m reading at the moment. Currently it’s Mythology by Edith Hamilton. I like having something to read all the time, because this passes time when I’m waiting for things or just generally need to keep myself occupied and awake.

A Very Merry Unbirthday

27 Apr

Happy half birthday to me!

Home Stretch

25 Apr

I am about five pages and one big image list away from finishing my paper. I really think I will be finished by my Tuesday deadline. At this point, I don’t know how good it is. It feels like it’s really in pieces, but then again I haven’t been over the whole thing in a few days. I’ve spent the whole weekend working on it, as I plan to do for the next few days as well. It will be such a big relief when it’s finally over!

We went to the Brasserie late last night, where I never fail to have fun. Meeting random people there is always great. We were the youngest people there and yet the most sober, I think. Mari and Gia had a great time dancing with our new “friend” Adam, who liked us because we laughed at him. Not a bad night, I must say.

Creation

22 Apr

“In the here I am utterly incomprehensible
For I dwell just as well within the dead
As with the unborn
Somewhat closer to creation than most
But far from close enough.”

Epitaph of Paul Klee
