I really love the fireworks show we have in town. We have one of the top shows in the country, or so I’ve heard. The show this year was exceptionally great-even better than last year.

I think one of my favorite things about the Fourth of July is listening to fireworks shows with the 1812 Overture playing in the background. Really, there is no better music for loud, fiery explosions.

I keep holding out every year that they will open the show with Jimi Hendrix’s version of the Star-Spangled Banner, but I’m pretty sure there are too many rednecks around for that to go over well. After all, there’s nothing more American than Lee Greenwood singing “God Bless the USA,” right?
